Glass Tile: A Touch of Timeless Style

Glass mosaics and tiles have been used for thousands of years to adorn floors, walls, ceilings, and facades of buildings all over the world. From ancient to modern times, we have all been fascinated by the magic and beauty of glass tiles.

During the Art Deco movement, around the 1920’s, glass tile gained momentum and became an important part of the art and design world, which has continued until today.

Glass tile can add a striking depth like no other material. It is the perfect choice to make a small or dark room feel brighter and lighter. Glass also mixes seamlessly with other surfaces, including natural stone, ceramic, and wood.

Traditional and also timeless, glass tiles are one of the most versatile options in the market. Glass can be produced in an endless variety of shapes, colors and textures, making it a key design feature to any area.

Glass tile is a perfect choice for outdoor applications such as pools and fountains as it reflects light like no other material can, transforming the water into a work of art.

In indoor spaces, glass tiles can be used in bathrooms and kitchen backsplashes as a stylish alternative to ceramic or porcelain. Glass will reflect the light to evoke a sense of being a brighter and larger space.

Glass mosaics and tile can be fragile loose out of the box and should be handled with care during installation, however once properly installed they are extremely durable, and resistant to mildew and stains.  Easy to clean, with zero water absorption, glass is a smart choice if low maintenance is at the top of your list. Many glass mosaics contain pre-consumer and/or post-consumer recycled glass content for those looking for an eco-friendly option.

The beauty of glass tile has inspired homeowners and interior designers to redefine their perception of tile and expand the boundaries for its use. There are many ways to upgrade your space using glass tile. Don’t be afraid to get creative and take your glass mosaics beyond the backsplash!
